Canadian Border Cattle Embargo Issues Lead to Call For Domina Law Group pc llo Services Mad Cow Disease Focus

A consortium of consumer groups, cattlemen’s groups, and public interest groups oppose reopening the US – Canada border to live cattle importation into the US. The ban, in place since the first Canadian Mad Cow case appeared in December 2003, would allow importation of cattle from a nation with a known prevalence of Bovine Spongeform Encephalopathy (BSE).

Domina Law Group pc llo attorneys David Domina, Michael Stumo, and Claudia Stringfield-Johnson were called upon by the consortium to serve as appellate counsel to file an amicus curiae brief before the US Court of Appeals in San Francisco, CA.

“The timing of the appellate court’s ruling cannot be predicted with reasonable certainty,” said Michael Stumo. He continued, “Our client's position is that no federal administrative agency can ignore reasonable science and resort to faith-based regulations. We think our client's position is correct.”

The precise names of the amici parties, and related matters, will be discussed in future news stories.
