Get In Line, Not Hyped, About Syngenta Claims

At a town hall meeting in Gothenburg, Attorney Dave Domina spoke on Syngenta lawsuits over GMO corn, saying "It makes sense to get in line. It doesn't make sense to get hyped."

Attorneys Dave Domina and Brian Jorde have been traveling Nebraska holding meetings to discuss pertinent issues like water law and Syngenta lawsuits. Last Thursday, the attorneys met with Nebraskans in Gothenburg to give them the facts about these issues.

Hundreds of lawsuits have been filed against corn seed manufacturer Syngenta over corn product denied by China. So many have been filed that they have been consolidated into a class and are being heard by the Federal District Court of Kansas.

With so many corn farmers joining the ranks, Domina believes it is important to give farmers who have not yet filed suit the facts about these claims. The strength of these cases is uncertain – it's not easy money as many have been led to believe. Although it does make sense to get in line, said Domina, it doesn't make sense to buy into the hype.

Some other facts Nebraska corn farmers should be aware of –

  • Domina does not find it likely that counter claims will be filed against producers
  • Domina urges farmers not to believe they can pay for their next quarter with Syngenta lawsuit money
  • Domina believes Syngenta will eventually will settle, but for what amount is uncertain
