Hergert Impeached

By an extremely slim margin, but a margin nonetheless, the Nebraska state legislature voted to impeach an elected official for the first time in more than two decades. University of Nebraska Regent David Hergert was unseated from his position based on claims that he committed election fraud in his 2004 campaign. In what the Lincoln Journal Star calls a "historic vote," Nebraska's impeachment of Hergert will set the stage for future campaign finance violations. Hergert is not expected to resign, but take his case to the Nebraska Supreme Court.
