Forbes Article: How Much of our Personal Lives Should be Under Employer Surveillance?

Attorney Brian Jorde is quoted in a Forbes article titled "How Much of Our Personal Lives Should Be Under Employer Surveillance?" The article centers on a teacher from Florida who was suspended after making a comment on Facebook expressing his displeasure about New York's recent decision to allow same-sex unions. While some praised the school district's action to discipline discrimination, many others are concerned about the right to free speech, especially because this teacher's comments were made on a social networking site, rather than in the classroom in front of students. Mr. Jorde commented on a similar case that he handled, in which the plaintiff accused a school of negligent hiring after failing to look at a teacher's MySpace account, a teacher who ended up sleeping with the plaintiffs' 14-year-old daughter.
