Chrysler Appellate Briefs Filed

Domina Law Group pc llo's extensive trial practice takes it to the appellate courts routinely. The Firm, despite its small size, has logged more than 200 appellate court appearances.

Among the Firm's recent appellate submissions are extensive briefs concerning an appeal from adverse trial rulings in a complex and important liability case against Daimler Chrysler Corporation.

Domina Law Group pc llo discovered and tried a product liability case concerning brake-shift interlock devices. Its client, the family of a victim who was killed when a Chrysler product without the device ran over him, sought compensation for their father and husband's wrongful death.

The appellate briefs filed by Domina Law Group pc llo contend the trial court committed a series of errors preventing trial from occurring on a fair and appropriate basis. The errors were initiated with discovery rulings that failed to compel Chrysler to produce required documents, and permitted Chrysler to escape this responsibility until after discovery closed, and rulings preventing the presentation to the jury of critical evidence establishing Chrysler retrofitted its own fleet of Jeep vehicles, including Jeeps produced during more than a decade before the Dodge Ram pickup at issue was manufactured, and thereby adversely impacted the trial's outcome.

The United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit is expected to decide the case in early 2007.
