Dave Domina Testifies at Nebraska Legislative Hearing on Ag Issues

Attorney Dave Domina testified at a recent Nebraska legislative hearing to give comment on L.B. 942, a bill that would, among other things:

  1. Allow packers to own livestock before animals are purchased for slaughter
  2. Allow packers to control the breeding, feeding, consumption of animals

The U.S. Congress established ag policies as far back as 1921 which divided the roles as follows:

Livestock producers breed, feed and sell live animals.

Meat processors kill, render, divide and sell meat and meat byproducts.

Service providers transport, chill, provide market reports and sell at retail.
