Claims Against the City of Lincoln Over Theresa Street Sewer Backup

Was your property affected by the flooding at Theresa Street Wastewater Treatment Facility? Although the City of Lincoln has denied these claims, Attorney Brian Jorde is encouraging Lincoln residents to contact Domina Law Group to discuss their legal options.

In two separate instances occurring on October 1, 2014 and May 6-7, 2015, the Theresa Street Wastewater Treatment Facility was flooded during a severe rainstorm. The flooding caused wastewater to back up into the homes of several hundred Lincoln residents.

The city has set up an assistance program, separate from a legal proceeding, that can compensate families up to $5,000 per event and only for cleanup costs, not repair costs. Many residents have said that that amount is not enough to compensate for the damages they sustained.

According to Jorde, anyone who believes they might have a claim can contact Domina Law Group to discuss filing a tort claim with the city and sending it by certified letter to create a record of the claim. For more information, contact Domina Law Group directly at (888) 387-4134.
