Lincoln Journal Star: Pipeline Critics Say Heineman Lacks Authority

Critics of the TransCanada Keystone XL pipeline recently argued in District Court that Gov. Heineman did not have the authority to approve the proposed route of the pipeline through Nebraska. The opponents are making their opinion known to Lancaster County District Judge Stephanie Stacy, asking her to void the Governor's actions. David A. Domina of Domina Law Group argued before Judge Stacy. The Judge also heard from Assistant Attorney General Katie Spohn. Domina and the opponents of the pipeline are mainly contending that the Major Oil Pipeline Siting Act (2012) is unconstitutional. This is the act that gave Gov. Heineman the authority to have the final say on the route of the pipeline.
