Family of Woman Hit by Police Cruiser Settles with City of Lincoln

It took three years for this case to be settled, but the family of a woman hit by a police cruiser was finally able to recover damages from the city of Lincoln. The 21-year-old woman was left in a vegetative state after she was hit by the cruiser. It was nighttime when the woman was crossing the residential street. She proceeded across the street because she did not see the police cruiser coming- the cruiser did not have its signal lights on at the time. The case was taken to Lancaster County District Court where the judge ruled the family could collect $1 million in damages, $900,000 of which was funneled into a trust that could not be touched by healthcare providers. Attorney David Domina took extra steps in order to ensure that the family got more money to better take care of the girl.
